The field of power quality analysis (PQA) is fast evolving and both hardware (analysers) and software (analytical tools) have to co-evolve to stay relevant and offer functionality in accordance with the latest (inter)national standards. Or to enhance the user experience. Regardless, we (Metrel) strive to give our customers the best tools for the job.
As a part of these efforts, we have upgraded our PowerView3.0 PC software with the addition of user-defined start intervals for the EN 50160 standard power quality report creation. Standard feature is report creation on the weekly basis (from Monday to Monday) – the software now supports additional start interval options.

Supported start interval options:
- Immediately: first interval included in the report (report includes sequential 7 days).
- Default: report starts with the first week day at 00:00 – Monday for Europe (report includes sequential 7 days).
- Next day: report starts next day at 00:00 (report includes sequential 7 days).
- Custom range: user selects time interval, which is included in the report (report includes complete selected interval).

The EN 50160 report includes flagged intervals (dips and swells) – interruptions are excluded from the analysis. Though, this can sometimes spoil the whole picture about the whole situation on the analysed network. However, there is the option of General Overview – automatically created under “Voltage Quality” window (available for different Power Quality standards or customized requests). Customers can also create different limits for power quality monitoring – a custom analysis (stricter requirements), which can also be saved under a user-defined name.
