P-RCD testing with MI 3360 OmegaGT XA
|
|
Electrical safety in all shapes and forms, particularly electrical appliance safety, is a growing concern and rightfully so. Electrical appliances and tools are becoming increasingly complex and may be used by some users in an unsafe manner, necessitating additional safety mechanism apart from those integrated in said devices. One such preventive measure is the use of portable-residual current protective devices (P-RCDs) with a rated residual current I ∆n ≤ 30 mA.
|
|
The P-RCDs need to fulfil the following requirements:
- Rated differential current IΔn ≤ 30 mA.
- Has to switch all poles, including the PE conductor.
- Undervoltage release.
- Must not restart after the voltage returns.
- Must not to switch on if the PE conductor is interrupted or energized.
- If voltage is detected on the PE conductor or if the protective conductor is interrupted during operation the RCD must switch off.
- PE conductor must not be switched off if external voltage is detected on the PE conductor.
|
|
Each and every of the aforementioned functionalities and features needs to be tested, requiring a structured approach encompassing both safety and functional tests. Few technological solutions on the market support this, except MI 3360 OmegaGT XA. The MI 3360 OmegaGT XA supports testing of the following types of P-RCDs:
- 2-pole.
- 3-pole.
- K/Di (varistor).
- S (3-pole).
- S+.

Additionally, tests can be executed manually via selection of single tests or automatically with the help of integrated AutoSequence®s.
